With Offices, restaurants, factories and other such locations increasing, we will need to switch to LEDs to not just save on our power bills but also to save the environment.
Incandescent lamps are extremely inefficient with a typical bulb creating 90% heat and only 10% light. It’s no wonder that such lights are serious contributor to rising electricity bills.
Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL’s), on the other hand, provide as much as illumination as incandescent bulbs but at only a fraction of the energy costs. These definitely are tangible benefits; but the question here is, what impact CFLs have on the environment?
CFLs contain mercury and emit UV and IR radiation. It is the high power consumption in incandescent lamps and the presence of hazardous chemicals in CFLs that make them a poor choice for our long-term lighting requirements.
Are LEDs the answer?
LEDS are the answer for our long-term lighting requirements, which range from energy savings to durability and longer life. This is not to mention the benefits that come from them being cleaner and greener given that they do not contain hazardous chemicals.
