Today the projects are composed of two core ‘ingredients’. The technical aspects such as consumption, lamp life (in hours as in performance), colour temperatures, types of luminaries to be used, accessories, control systems, etc. And of course the subjective aspects, which are as important from the architecture, art, photography point of view.

On one side it is very important to know the space from the architectural point of view- their volumes, prominent architectural elements and finishing. A comprehensive exercise of ‘putting yourself in the place’ of the user while designing would be fundamental to creating a good design. 

The most important factor influencing the vision is the contrast. The contrast is caused by differences between colours or luminaces (portion of light reflected by a body receipted by the eye) between an element of the visual field and the rest. The contrasts allow us to separate planes, generating hierarchies, etc.

Shadow is an another important aspect in lighting design where management is more complex. The generation of shadow enhances the contrast also the presence of shadows shows partially some objects.
